Social Media for Home Builders Can Produce Quick Results

January 21, 2009

logos.jpgIt has been said by many real estate professionals that builders need to increase their online presence if they want to sell homes in this market. The reasoning behind this new tactic is that almost all home shoppers begin the home buying process on the Internet. If your brand cannot be found on the Internet, then home buyers will not be visiting your communities. Yes, you have heard this speech before, but probably have never really been able to visualize the impact a Social Media campaign can have on your business. Well, hopefully I will be able to shed some light on the situation for you by describing the recent success from Highland Homes.

Highland Homes is a privately owned Central Florida home builder who hired mRELEVANCE, LLC to begin a Social Media campaign in November 2008. Within a mere three months, they have already begun to see drastic results including a 20% increase in keywords and a 25% increase in referring URLs. However, the most impressive result of their new social media campaign would be the fact that they wrote 56 contracts in the month of December! This number made December the second most successful month for Highland Homes in 2008, which is really significant since December is typically the slowest month of the year for builders.

Kathie McDaniel, Broker, MCSP, MIRM, Director of Advertising and Marketing with Highland Homes says, “We were extremely pleased to have had such a successful December. Our business usually slows during the holiday season as people are preoccupied with other things, but this year our Web site traffic remained stable and our on-site traffic increased. The only two changes we made were implementing a social media marketing program and cutting our print advertising budget in half.”

Wouldn’t it be great if you were quoted saying something similar? Then it’s time to take your Internet marketing and social media campaign to the next level.
