“The place is like a museum.” – Ferris Bueller

Cameron Frye's Garage

“It’s very beautiful and very cold, and you’re not allowed to touch anything.”  Famous words by Ferris Bueller and his assessment of friend Cameron Frye’s newly on the market home in suburban Highland Park. Minus the 1961 Ferrari 250 GTO, this iconic Northshore home is for sale for $2.3 million.  Owned by Ben Rose since built in the 1950’s and designed by famous architects A. James Speyer and David Haid, the cantilevered steel and glass home is still perched on the ravine that destroyed Cameron’s Dad’s rare sportscar.  While it was never disclosed as to how Cameron’s “chat” with his father went, the unique property has already gathered a significant amount of press in the Chicago real estate market.

The popular comedy “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off” debuted in 1986 and still brings a lot of laughs to fans of the movie.  It remains to be seen what people are willing to offer for the home in today’s housing market but listing agent Meladee Hughes (no relation to writer / director John Hughes, but we are suspicious)  of Sudler Sotheby’s International Realty feel confident that the asking price is in line for the property.  The listing has the contemporary style home at 5,300 square feet, 4 bedrooms and bathrooms.  The famous garage is actually used for an art studio and a place for the owners collection of exotic cars and racecars (it can fit 6 cars).  The home also has an attached 2 car garage for the owner’s daily drivers.
