chicagobungalowLou Manfredini of ‘Mr. Fix-It’, ‘The House Doctor’ Bob Yapp and Kelly Edwards of HGTV’s ‘Design on a Dime’ are the headliners that this years Historic Chicago Bungalow and Green Home Expo 2009.  Saturday, October 17th from 10am to 4pm at the Merchandise Mart, homeowners and perspective home buyers will have the chance to learn about restoring, rehabilitating and maintaining a vintage Chicago bungalow.

The Chicago bungalow holds a special place in the hearts of historic neighborhoods in city and surrounding suburbs.  In 2000, Mayor Richard M. Daley launched the Historic Chicago Bungalow Initiative designed to encourage and foster the rehabilitation and preservation of one of Chicago’s distinctive architectural styles.

Some of the unique and free advice you can find at the event is the booth aptly named ‘Ask an Architect’.  Get advice on how to restore, rehab and improve your home while maintaining its architectural and aesthetic integrity.  To get the most out of your session, bring a photo of your home and a survey, if you have one.

Now that you’ve received all the great ideas from the architect session, how are you going to finance your dream project?   You’re going to stop by the free mortgage check-up booth and talk to home the lending professionals about your options on making that dream renovation come true, financially.

At this day-long Chicago bungalow home event, there will be 15 workshops, over 140 exhibitors, artisans, lenders and tradespeople.  Not to mention the celebrities Lou Manfredini, Bob Yapp and Kelly Edwards.  Registration to the event can be found here for the Chicago Bungalow and Green Home Expo.
