Green Bridgeport Condos

Bo Boguslawski, developer of the 3 unit green renovation of 3308 S. Lowe in Bridgeport Chicago, began purchasing apartment buildings in the neighborhood in 1997.  She saw the great potential of 3 and 4-flats in the area and the challenge some represented in needing updating and refurbishing.  She successfully transformed beautiful apartment buildings despite some being in major disrepair and housing suspected gang members.

Times have changed and Bo decided to convert one of her vintage apartment buildings into environmentally friendly condominiums.  Being closely associated with city officials and their desire to promote green building technologies in Chicago, Bo decided it was time to give green movement a shot.

Choosing 3308 S. Lowe as her test subject was easy.  An already charming 4-flat steps from White Sox baseball and on a quiet tree-lined street, the combination of a green c0ndo conversion amongst a thriving neighborhood would be a perfect fit.  Armed with eZing, a green building technology consulting  firm, together they mapped out a way to gut and rebuild this apartment building.  Meticulously planned down to the recycling of existing materials and the resource management to bring in recycled stair treads from another one of Bo’s buildings in Evanston, every energy, resource, air quality and recycling aspect was considered and executed.

The HERS (The HERS Index is a scoring system established by the Residential Energy Services Network (RESNET) in which a home built to the specifications of the HERS Reference Home are tallied – an Energy Star system) rating achieved and tested by a third party verifier were beyond Bo’s expectations in thermal integrity and air infiltration.  For more information, contact Bob Atkins at 312-475-7788 to schedule a showing of these great residential units in Bridgeport.
