Views From Chicago’s Trump Tower Penthouse

September 24, 2009

trumppenthousepicsIf you’ve got the reported $30 million to purchase a Chicago Penthouse, Trump International Hotel and Tower’s is still available for you to customize from floor to ceiling. The penthouse, now nothing more than windows, walls and raw concrete floors, occupies the entire 89th floor of the 92-story skyscraper. It reportedly has 14,260 square feet to design a nice pad for the lucky person able to make this dream come true.

There are 16 foot ceilings and views in every direction.  Private sky-deck, anyone? The only building taller is the Willis T– ur, Sears Tower to the southwest and even that colossal building somehow looks less intimidating from such a height.  Just about the only thing you can’t see from this 1,100 plus foot height is the end to the current residential real estate slump.

Trump International Hotel and Tower is currently the second tallest building in Chicago and in the United States.  Built with cast in place concrete, it is the tallest of this type of construction.  If the Chicago Spire should ever become more than a large hole in the ground, Trump Tower will get ‘trumped’ of this distinction mightily by as much as 800 feet.  Ty Warner, the reclusive founder and chief executive officer of Westmont-based toymaker Ty Inc., had signed a contract to buy the sprawling 10,000-plus-square-foot penthouse on the Spire’s 141st and 142nd floors.
