Scholl Construction Busy Building In Woodstock

schollconstructionKeeping busy in these economic times is a big challenge and Scholl Construction of northwest suburban Chicago’s Woodstock is the exception.  Peter Scholl, president of Scholl Construction Co., is wondering why business is so good for him right now as he currently has 12 projects going in the Chicagoland area.

Across the nation many production and custom builders have closed shop,  but Scholl can keep his in-house staff busy.  One of the custom homes that Scholl is currently building is a $2 million dollar 7000 square foot custom home on 50 acres in Bull Valley.  The new home consists of 5 bedrooms and 4 baths, 5 fireplaces and a 3 car garage.

“The owner we are building the house for is a single lady about 50 years old.  She saw a swinging bed in a magazine she was reading and like the idea so we built one for her,” Scholl said.  The bed is operated by pulleys and is on a copper-turreted porch off the main floor’s master bedroom suite.  “You can sleep out there in good weather and raise and lower it as needed.  It hangs pretty tight to the ceiling so it is out of the way when not in use,” he added.

Another part of the custom home building consideration for this home is the possibility of having her parents move into the home down the road.  “Our client’s parents live down-state and can foresee the possibility of future quarters for them.”  Robert Gebelhoff of M.A.R.S. design and Construction in Island Lake was instrumental in helping with these unique design features.  The house also has the potential to expand to 12,000 square feet with unfinished bonus rooms and walkout basements perhaps to be used by the woman’s three daughters.
