Smashing Pumpkins lead singer Billy Corgan has smashed the asking price of his Gold Coast condo.

Billy Corgan

Corgan purchased the full-floor unit, located at 20 E. Burton Place in Chicago, for $2.95 million in 2002. He first listed the vintage, 6-room condo in 2008 for $5.5 million, reduced the asking price to $4.35 million in April 2009 and then reduced it again in October to $3.875 million. He is now asking $3.55 million.

Located in a converted mansion that was built in 1892, the 3700-square-foot condo has 2 bedrooms, 2.5 baths, 4 wood-burning fireplaces, ceilings over 10-feet high, a library and a reception room. There are 9 units in the building.

Corgan, 42, is originally from Elk Grove Village. He is also the lead songwriter for the Smashing Pumpkins, an alternative rock band formed in Chicago in 1988 that has sold more than 18 million records in the U.S. alone.

Corgan also owns a mansion on Lake Michigan in Highland Park, which he bought for $6.8 million in 2003.
