Fix-Your-Mortgage Events Scheduled

March 23, 2010

Do you qualify for President Obama’s Making Home Affordable Modification Program? Do you want to find out and get help applying?

The Neighborhood Housing Services of Chicago, the city of Chicago and Attorney’s Title Guaranty Fund are among the partners co-sponsoring free “Fix Your Mortgage” events around the Chicago area throughout 2010 aimed at assisting qualified homeowners in modifying their mortgages and lowering their monthly payments.

The city of Chicago is helping at-risk homeowners manage their mortgage.

During the events, volunteer real estate attorneys, city staff members, NHS staff and other HUD-certified agencies will go over paperwork to determine if a homeowner can qualify for assistance under the federal “Homeowner Affordability and Stability Plan,” also known as the “Making Home Affordable” program.

If a homeowner qualifies, a loan modification application will be prepared and submitted via Internet that day.

Pre-registration is strongly recommended; registration will close at 12:30 p.m. or at 1,000 registrants.
