Get Pumped for this Weekend’s Open House Frenzy

April 09, 2010

If you ever wanted to attend an open house in the Chicago area, just wait until you hear what’s going on this weekend.

Chicago Realtors are joining Realtors throughout the country in hosting a mega amount of open houses this Saturday and Sunday, April 10 and 11, as part of Nationwide Open House Weekend. It will be a first for the Chicago area. Thousands of homes for sale throughout the city and suburbs will be showcased this weekend in attempt to fire up the real estate market.

The timing is purposeful. If you are in the market to buy a home, you might as well take advantage of the expiring home buyer federal tax credit and potentially save thousands of dollars. You must have a contract in place by April 30 and close on the home by June 30 to be eligible for a credit of up to $8,000 for first-time home buyers and up to $6,500 for repeat buyers, so time is running out.

Are you thinking about selling your house? This weekend is the perfect opportunity to check out the competition and see how homes present themselves.

If you are interested in a specific neighborhood, check with a local Realtor in advance for scheduled open houses. Or, search for specifics at the Chicago Tribune.

The weather should be lovely this weekend in the Chicago area, so get out there and house hunt!
