Mart’s DreamHome Offers a Taste of Luxury Living with a Twist of Green

April 25, 2010

Want to see what Chicago’s best interior designers can do? Here’s your chance.

The DreamHome's dining room, created by Simeone Deary Design Group, has a jazz theme and a wall of feathers.

In its sixth year, DreamHome at the Merchandise Mart is a collaboration of ten of Chicagoland’s top interior designers with the resources available from the Mart’s Design Center. The showcase is in the lobby of the Merchandise Mart, which is the world’s largest design center, and it is open to the public through December 10.

This year’s theme is entitled “Cool Elegance,” and it features elegant living with luxurious furnishings. For the first time, DreamHome will feature at least one eco-friendly element in each of the 10 rooms.

This year’s featured designers are Summer Thornton (foyer), Tony Stavish (home office), Alex Jordan and Dan Smieszny (living room), Jeannie Balsam (bedroom), Kohler designer William Collins (bathroom), Lisa Simeone and Gina Deary of Simeone Deary Design Group (dining room), Neff of Chicago (kitchen), Monica Pedersen and partner Becky McCallum (sitting room), and Schmechtig Landscapes (outdoor room).

There is no charge to tour the show home, though visitors may make a voluntary $5 donation to the University of Chicago Cancer Research Foundation (UCCRF) Women’s Board.
