Get Set For Spring With These Weekend Plant Sales

It’s planting season in Chicago! Check out these two plant sales set for this weekend that promise to deliver all kinds of goodies.

At the Chicago Botanical Gardens in Glencoe, A Bloomin’ Festival started today and goes through the weekend. You’ll enjoy live music during the 44th annual sale, which has more than 30,000 plants to choose from including annuals, ferns, geraniums, native wildflowers, herbs, perennials, roses, shrubs, vines, and fruit and vegetable plants.

Family drop-in activities will take place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Malott Japanese Garden during the Japanese Garden Children’s Festival; and the Midwest Bonsai Society Spring Show & Sale is set for 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and will include workshops for all skill levels.

Bring your garden tools to the Garden and get them sharpened.

If you like organic, then you are going to want to check out the Kilbourn Park Organic Greenhouse Plant Sale this weekend. There will be more than 150 varieties of organically grown vegetable, herb and flower seedlings for sale, some as low as $2. The Greenhouse accepts cash only.

When: Saturday, May 15, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.; Sunday, May 16, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Also, on Wednesday, May 19 from 5 to 7:30 p.m., the Kilbourn Organic Greenhouse will host a Half-Price Sale and Gardening Basics: Free Questions Answer session by the Master Gardeners of Cook County Chicago — University of Illinois Extension. Bring your gardening questions and get some organic seedlings at great prices!
