What Do You Get When You Mix Business and Humor? PR+MKTG Camp Chicago

May 20, 2010

I have some information about an upcoming marketing seminar in Chicago, but let me tell you up front: This isn’t your ordinary seminar.

It’s called PR+MKTG Camp Chicago. It’s a day-long event for PR, marketing and communications professionals of all levels; and while the seminar won’t include panels or PowerPoint presentations, it will feature a discussion on humor and social media with Second City Communications, the marketing services division of Chicago’s own The Second City comedy theatre.

There will be discussions with smaller breakout groups and the Camp as a whole at PR+MKTG Camp Chicago.

“Humor’s a powerful tool for engaging audiences,” said Tom Yorton, CEO of Second City Communications. “We are excited to show marketing and PR professionals what works and what doesn’t.”

Set for Tuesday, June 8 at the University Conference Center in Chicago, the day will be filled with highly interactive discussions aimed at helping PR and marketing pros succeed in a social world that never sleeps.

Organized by Bernaise Source Media, there will be more than 30 speakers and companies on hand to share their experiences based on actual business practices, including representatives from The Boeing Co., Chicago Tribune, Crain’s Chicago Business, Google, Hyatt Corp., McDonald’s, National Association of Realtors, Razorfish, United Airlines, Morton’s The Steakhouse, and Chicagoland Real Estate Forum’s own Mitch Levinson, representing mRELEVANCE.

“PR+MKTG Camp Chicago brings information, community and fun to the complex issues surrounding social media,” said event organizer Dan Greenfield, principal of Bernaise Source Media. “An amazing group of brands, agencies and consultants have been assembled to share best practices and lessons learned through highly interactive discussion.”

PR+MKTG Camp Chicago will be divided into four sessions:

*Session 1 – Impact: Understanding how social media is reshaping traditional PR’s and marketing’s principal roles and core competencies

*Session 2 – Impact and Strategy: Aligning PR and Marketing

*Session 3 – Execution: Measuring Success

*Session 4 – Strategy and Execution: Achieving Internal Buy-in for Your Social Media Programs

Previous camps have been held in Atlanta, New York and Seattle, and future events will be announced soon in Toronto and London. Save on tickets by purchasing in advance, and have fun while getting ahead!
