RE/MAX Balloon on its Way to a School Near You

June 02, 2010

Remember when you were a kid and your school would have special guests show up, like Officer Friendly or the dog who talked about fire? Bet you were never visited by a hot air balloon.

Chicago students watch the RE/MAX balloon inflate.

Many northern Illinois students have thanks to the RE/MAX Hot Air Balloon interactive educational program.

The RE/MAX balloon crew has been visiting area schools to teach students about the history of the hot air balloon and how it works. If the program can be held outside, the kids get to watch the balloon get inflated with hot air to its full 75-foot height.

These Chicago students get to walk inside the balloon.

And, if the weather doesn’t cooperate, or space is an issue, no big deal! When the program is inside, the balloon envelope is inflated with cold air and the students get to walk inside of it. How many people can say they’ve done that before?

The RE/MAX balloon, which will visit more than 40 schools in northern Illinois this spring, recently stopped at schools in Niles, Morton Grove, Darien and Waukegan. Upcoming engagements include:

*June 2, William Herrick Middle School, Downers Grove

*June 3, Kate Kellogg Elementary School, in Chicago’s Beverly neighborhood

*June 4, William A. Hinton Elementary School, in Chicago’s Englewood neighborhood

*June 7, Charles Kozminski Elementary Community Academy, in Chicago’s Hyde Park neighborhood.

*June 8, Hillel Torah North Suburban Day School, Skokie

RE/MAX Northern Illinois touts itself as number one in the metropolitan Chicago real estate market since 1989.

I’ll tell you this much: They sure put on a cool guest appearance.
