Free Tulips on the Magnificent Mile Today; New Neighborhood Tour Unveiled

One of the best parts of living in Chicago is there is so much to do, especially during spring and summer. Here are two interesting events going on in the city today.

Chicago Neighborhood Tours 2010 is a way to get to know city communities like you never have before. There are 26 different guided bus tours to different neighborhoods, and starting today, there’s a chance to see several neighborhoods at once.

The Summertime Sampler takes place every other Friday beginning today and takes you into the Near West Side neighborhoods of Greek Town, Little Italy and Chinatown on one tour, where you can see where Greeks and Italians first settled in our city and experience the vibrancy of Chinatown.

When: June 4, June 18, July 2, July 16, July 30, August 13, August 27; 1o a.m. to 1 p.m.

Chicago Magnificent MileGoing to be on the Magnificent Mile today? Go to Pioneer Court between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. and you might be able to take a piece of Michigan Avenue home with you.

Tens of thousands of tulip bulbs are being given away to visitors of the Magnificent Mile today, while supplies last.

The bulbs are from the parkway and median gardens along North Michigan Avenue and have been donated by commercial properties.

Storage and planting instructions are included.

When: Friday, June 4; 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. or until the bulbs are gone!
