Couple Leaves Condo for Single-Family Lifestyle at Mill Creek in Geneva

June 26, 2010

Seeking greener pastures for their growing family, Chris and Kristin Power said goodbye to the big city and hello to a new lifestyle of comfort and convenience at Mill Creek, Shodeen Residential’s master-planned community in Geneva.

Owners of a River North condo since 2006, the couple knew they would have to expand their horizons—and their square footage—when Kristin became pregnant two years ago.

“We were eager to start a family, but our condo wasn’t large enough to accommodate kids,” said Kristin, 31.

The couple put their condo on the market two years ago and began their hunt. They decided to check out Mill Creek in Geneva.

“Aside from community amenities like an on-site school, Village Center and nearby parks, what I loved right away about Mill Creek was its 18-hole Tanna Golf Club,” said Chris, 32.

The home Chris and Kristin had in mind was a Payton XL-IV — with four bedrooms, four baths, first floor office, formal living and dining rooms, family room with a fireplace, three-car garage and 2,950 square feet.

“We were having trouble selling our condo,” Chris said. “But Shodeen wanted to make this happen for us, so they reserved the homesite for the extra time it took to unload our condo.

The couple finally found a buyer in the fall of 2008 and gave Shodeen the green light to build their Payton XL-IV, complete with several upgrades. The Powers took delivery of their completed residence in March of 2009. Three months later, daughter Hailey was born.

The Powers were particularly impressed by the extra TLC they received from Shodeen’s professional sales team, including Diane Mikos and Diane Durpetti, who helped them secure their homesite and choose the right extras and upgrades.

At Tanna, one of several Mill Creek neighborhoods, buyers can select from several distinctive luxury single-family to-be-built floorplans, base priced from the upper $200,000s.

Additionally, shoppers can pick from a number of inventory homes available for early delivery.

“Mill Creek provides a country club lifestyle, offering 36 collective holes of golf, on-site schools,   retailers and quality-built residences spread across several different neighborhoods,” said Joelle Tilche, General Sales Manager for Shodeen Residential.

Residents love Mill Creek’s two premier golf courses providing breathtaking views—including Tanna Golf Club, which recently expanded from a nine- to 18-hole course; Village Center offering convenient on-site retailers, such as a grocery store, dry cleaners and a dentist; a clubhouse and outdoor swimming pool; a restaurant; a church; and highly ranked schools for children to attend within Geneva Community Unit School District #304, including Mill Creek Elementary and Fabyan Elementary.

“Approximately 800 acres of the master-planned community—an amazing 45 percent—is open space dedicated to outdoor recreation and ecological preservation,” Tilche added.

Mill Creek features 127 acres of preserved wetlands, 195 acres of open parks and 17 miles of nature and bike trails. The property also is loaded with mature trees, picturesque lakes and ponds, scenic landscaping, lush grasslands and rolling hills with up to 80-foot elevations.

Or, take I-88 west to Orchard Road; head east to Randall Road; proceed north to Keslinger Road; and head west to the models.
