Chicago Real Estate Firm Raising Funds for Charity

June 28, 2010

Even in hard times, I believe everyone should give back and try to help others. This article is about one Chicago real estate brokerage firm that is doing just that.

The @properties Friends and Neighbors Community Fund, the charitable arm of Chicago’s @properties, recently hosted its first fundraising event to raise money for four local, non-profit organizations that were chosen out of 40 applicants:

*Lincoln Park Community Shelter, which provides interim housing, meals and social services to more than 300 people each year.

*Urban Initiatives, which offers health and educational soccer programs for free to 360 Chicago students each season.

*Camp of Dreams, which provides summer camp and school-year activities to economically disadvantaged students.

*Street Level, which teaches Chicago’s urban youth about expression through media arts and technology.

The fundraiser, held on June 5, was coined “Chicago Revealed: A Pursuit of Chicago’s Hidden Treasures.

Its theme was an “Amazing Race” type competition in which teams followed clues around the city in search of famous Chicago landmarks including the Green Mill jazz club in Uptown, Alta Vista Street in Lake View, Wooden Alley in the Gold Coast and the Chicago Saddle & Cycle Club Ballroom and Terrace on the city’s North side, where the event continued with dinner, live music and silent and live auctions.

Tickets to participate in the race and party were $150; $100 for the party alone. More than 250 people attended the charitable event.

The Fund’s next fundraiser is its second annual golf outing and dinner on August 23 at Silver Lake Country Club in Orland Park.

Why not have fun while raising funds for those in need? Good job, @properties!
