Picture Your Favorite Aspect of Chicago and Get Published

July 05, 2010

Calling all Chicago residents: Want to be in a book? Take a picture!

Dream Town Realty is looking to capture the best photographs of Chicago from the people who live there for a “Chicago In Focus” contest.

The best photos will be put in an approximately 60-page long, full-color picture book, and the winner’s photo will adorn the cover.

“We’re looking forward to seeing how each photo represents a unique facet of life in Chicago,” said Yuval Degnani, President of Dream Town Realty. “The inspiration for this project stems from our love of the city’s architecture, neighborhoods, and people.

“This project seeks to capture all aspects of life in Chicago — the people, the food, the neighborhoods, the buildings, the street fairs, the El, the everyday things that make this city extraordinary.”

Everyone who submits a photo will get a free copy of the book, so that makes it worth entering right there.

Besides having their photo featured on the cover, the first-place winner also will receive $2,500. Two second-place winners will get $500 each and four third-place winners will each win $250.

Those judging the contest include Chicago broadcasting legend Merri Dee, NBC photojournalist Casey Mitchell, professional photographer Daniel Peter and Telemundo news anchor Tsi-tsi-ki Felix.

The deadline for submission is July 15 (my birthday, in case you were wondering). Only digital files will be accepted, and to be considered for first place, the minimum photo size must be 3900×2601 pixels. You have to be 18 years or older to enter.

Categories for Consideration include:

*Chicago History

*Anything else Windy City-ish

Now go start snapping!
