Metra Project Calls For Tweaking of Train Times

July 17, 2010

Next month, work will begin on a $185 million project on Metra’s Union Pacific North Line, which will result in a change of train schedules.

Metra officials said Friday that 22 bridges on the north side of Chicago will be replaced in a two-part construction project that will not be completed until 2018.

The changes in train schedules will go into effect August 21. They are minor changes, but commuters should still be aware.

You can see the new schedules at www.metrarail.com or by downloading this schedule.

You can also attend three Union Pacific North Line bridge open house forums to discuss the eight-year project:

*Thursday, July 29; 5 to 7 p.m.; Waukegan City Hall, Board Room, 100 N. Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue, Waukegan

*Monday, August 2; 5 to 7 p.m.; Lake Forest City Hall, 220 East Deerpath Road, Lake Forest

*Wednesday, August 4; 5 to 7 p.m.; Evanston Public Library Community Room, 1703 Orrington Avenue, Evanston
