Chicago Flood Victims: Save Your Stuff at U-Haul for Free

July 27, 2010

U-Haul wants to help those Chicago area residents affected by this last weekend’s massive rainfall.

Homes throughout the area were flooded and some residents had to be evacuated due to the five to seven inches of rain that enveloped our area on Friday night and early Saturday morning.

U-Haul wants to help Chicago area homeowners hurt by the recent flooding save their possessions.

The U-Haul Company of North Shore Chicago is offering 30 days of free storage to people who suffered as a result of the recent weather.

“These storms have caused tremendous damage and inflicted extreme hardship on the communities we serve,” said Brandon Blaskowski, president of U-Haul Company of North Shore Chicago. “I hope this effort will provide assistance to families that truly need a helping hand. We will continue to help our friends and neighbors in this time of need.”

U-Haul also offers a Take a Box, Leave a Box program, in which people can take reusable boxes to use for free as long as they return them for others to use.

In fact, if you ever have a box you are thinking about recycling, consider taking it to a U-Haul facility instead.
