Elmhurst Festival Promises Eco-Friendly Experience

July 30, 2010

Whether you live green or are still wondering why you should, check out the third annual Elmhurst Green Fest this Saturday.

Sponsored by the Elmhurst Cool Cities Coalition, the festival will include fun, educational activities for adults and kids, eco-friendly product and service exhibits, live music, door prizes and giveaways.

Some of the topics at Green Fest:

*Reducing Home Energy Usage

*Easy Green Living Ideas

*Composting & Using Rain Barrels

*Sustainable Landscape Techniques

*Creating Rock Gardens

*Basic Bike Maintenance

Bring stuff to recycle and drop it off at the Recycling Boutique, where you’ll learn how these items will benefit local and international charities. There’s also an educational activity for the kids.

In fact, there will be lots for kids here, including crafts with recycled materials, a nature walk, and games like soccer and frisbee.

Another highlight of the festival will be Project GREEN, a new program designed to help residents make homes more comfortable with lower heating and cooling bills. Project GREEN stands for Green Retrofits for Energy Efficient Neighborhood homes. Its presentations will take place in the main tent.
