Next Cook County Property Tax Bill Coming Later

September 28, 2010

Chicago real estate owners will get an extra month this year to pay their property taxes.

Treasurer Maria Pappas estimated that Cook County property tax bills won’t be mailed until approximately November 22.

Last year, the bills were sent October 28.

That could help politicians at the polls November 2, since voters probably won’t know yet whether their property tax bills have been increased.

Speaking of voting, you have only one week left to register to vote in the November 2 election.

The deadline to register is October 5.

Those who need to register include:

*First-time voters

*Voters with a new address

*Voters whose names have been changed

Places to register include:

*Cook County Clerk’s office

*A village, city or township clerk

*An Illinois Secretary of State driver’s license facility

You can also download the registration form and register through the mail.

For all the details, check out www.cookcountyclerk.com, and let your voice be heard in the November elections.
