Perk Up Your Pots at Fall Gardening Workshop

October 08, 2010

There’s a free fall container gardening workshop this weekend in Evanston that will benefit the Evanston Public Library Friends and spruce up the decor inside and out of your Chicago home.

Beautiful pink flowers in a potPlant-whisperer Susan Fontana, of Thinking Outside the Pot, will be at the Backlot from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. this Saturday to give you ideas on how to make your own pots look good.

There will also be for sale a huge selection of handmade, frost-free ceramic garden pots, which were donated to EPL Friends by River Market Pottery. Retail prices will be hugely reduced, and all the proceeds will benefit EPL Friends. Donations are tax deductible.

EPL Friends was formed in March to save two Evanston Public Library branches that were to be closed in August. In June, the city council voted to keep the North and South Branch libraries open until at least February while funds continue to be raised.

Susan Fontana is a regular presenter at Garfield Park Conservatory, Wicker Park Garden Club, the Chalet and more.

Come Saturday and see what she can do: Even if you have a brown thumb, she’ll make you look good.
