McHenry is Full of Winter Fun

November 03, 2010

sledders near McHenry new homesYes, it is still fall. And while the season is lovely and full of fun holidays, nothing is more special than winter. It’s when children get to bundle up in their brightly colored puffy jackets and woolen hats to take off for a day of fun in the snow.

A favorite winter activity is sledding. Whether you use a proper sled or a makeshift one from home, the thrill is amazing. Did you know McHenry has a fantastic sledding hill? Located at the McHenry Township Park on Route 31 North, the hill looms waiting for the first snow of the season. Over the summer, the hill was graded and upgraded with fencing and shatterproof fiberglass poles. Now when the first flakes stick this winter, sledders will squeal with delight as they race down the 300 feet of sledding hill.

But what fun is a massive sledding hill if you have to trudge far to get there? Live near the winter fun at McHenry home builder Gerstad Builder’s Liberty Trails community. The homes in this community are beautiful, with GE appliances, Kohler fixtures and the buyer’s choice of oak or while Colonist doors and trim. Homes in the community are priced from $178,990 to $308,490. Students in the community addent Hilltop Elementary, Duker Elementary, McHenry Middle and McHenry High schools. Visit the Sales Office at 1600 Reagan Blvd in McHenry or call 815-385-4495 for more information.

Visit the McHenry Township website for more information about the sledding hill. The hill is unsupervised so sledding is at your own risk.
