Oak Design & Construction Wins Gold for Kitchen Renovation

November 17, 2010

Chicagoland Real Estate Forum congratulates Oak Design & Construction for winning a Gold Key Award in the category of “Excellence in Remodeling Over $100,000” for a kitchen renovation.

The Kranberg kitchen was a unique undertaking. The home, designed by renowned architect Stanley Tigerman, has a circular-shaped kitchen, and the family was intent on keeping true to the original architecture of the house. We put together just the right team to recreate this round kitchen into a sustainable space with better functionality, while in keeping with the style of the original architect. Designer David McNulty worked with us to infuse new energy into this distinctive space.

We furnished the kitchen with beautiful, new custom European-style Anigre wood cabinetry. The flooring is stained and finished Red Oak tongue and groove hardwood. All appliances are energy efficient, including the conduction cook top. A custom concrete sink was installed upon homeowner’s request.

One standout feature of the new look is a colorful recycled glass counter top that is always a conversation piece with guests. This beautiful focal point follows the curvature of the walls and functions as a breakfast bar. The radius cut-out allows for greater functionality during food preparation and compliments the overall design.

The Home Builders Association of Greater Chicago Key Awards were created in 1972 to recognize excellence in housing design, architecture, interior merchandising, remodeling and landscaping. It has since evolved into one of the premier housing programs in the country.
