Chicago Not One of Nation’s Most Dangerous Cities

Bet anyone who owns Chicago real estate will like this story.

CQ Press on Monday released its 17th annual City Crime Rankings 2010-2011, which lists the most dangerous cities in the country.

Chicago is not on it.

The annual rankings are based on crime figures compiled by the FBI.

The top 10 most dangerous cities:

1. St. Louis, MO

2. Camden, NJ

Police lights3. Detroit, MI

4. Flint, MI

5. Oakland, CA

6. Richmond, CA

7. Cleveland, OH

8. Compton, CA

9. Gary, IN

10. Birmingham, AL

36. Rockford, IL

Yes, Rockford did make the list and is considered the most dangerous city in Illinois.

For the second year in a row, Colonie, New York was ranked as the safest city in the nation.

Rounding out the top 10 safest cities:

1. Colonie, NY

2. O’Fallon MO

3. Ramapo, NY

4. Mission Viejo, CA

5. Clarkstown, NY

6. Amherst, NY

7. Lake Forest, CA

8. Cary, NC

9. Newton, MA

10. Irvine, CA

Guess it would have been nice to be on the safest-cities side, but we’ll take what we can get.
