Looking to Sell Your House? Spring Selling Starts Now!

December 31, 2010

spring home selling in mchery ilThe Spring selling season is underway! Seriously, now is the  hottest time to sell your home in 2011. According to real estate expert Ilyce Glink, frequent contributor to the

Equifax Personal Finance Blog,  the spring real estate season starts on January 2. So, if you are planning to sell your home in 2011 and hoping to buy a new Gerstad Builders home, you’d better get your home on the market right after we ring in the New Year.

Glink’s recent Equifax post, “

How to Sell Your Home in 2011,” gives pointers for selling your home. Her points include:

  1. Find a real estate agent.  But this is not just any real estate agent. You will want to make sure they have a history of selling homes in  your price range in your neighborhood. This must also be an agent who will aggressively market and show your home.
  2. Declutter your home.  Remove all the clutter, including out of season clothes in your closets and extra “stuff” sitting around on your kitchen and bathroom countertops. For things you want to keep but are taking up too much space – including extra furniture pieces, books or boxes of holiday decorations – you may want to rent a storage unit until you’re ready to move them into your new home. You can get even more tips for decluttering your home in a post from Lynda called, “Tips for Getting Your Home Ready to Sell.”

Equifax Personal Finance Blog has many additional tips as well.  What will you do to get your home ready? What have you seen other homeowners do (or fail to do) that you would like to pass on to others? Let us know your thoughts and ideas.

Of course if McHenry County new homes, Poplar Grove homes or Williams Bay homes are on your list, Gerstad Builders is here to help with that! We look forward to seeing you in one of our sales centers soon.
