Free Homebuyer Seminar in Aurora

The city of Aurora is trying to make the most out of the foreclosure crisis and is offering a class to help Chicago-area homebuyers do the same.

Through the city’s Neighborhood Stabilization Program, Aurora has invested more than $3 million in federal funds to buy and rehab 14 foreclosed or abandoned homes or rental units in the town.

welcome to aurora signThe money, which was part of the Housing and Economic Recovery Act of 2008, was granted to Aurora’s Neighborhood Redevelopment Division and is being used to minimize the impact felt by homeowners in areas hit hard by foreclosures and vacancies.

According to the village, the first two renovated single-family homes — at 593 Second Avenue and 628 Bangs Street — will be ready for sale in spring, and additional homes will be available later this year.

The Joseph Corporation will be hosting a free homebuyers’ seminar on Wednesday to teach potential homeowners how to buy one of these refurbished home through Aurora’s Neighborhood Stabilization Program.

The seminar will include information about:

*The renovated homes

*Financial assistance for down-payment and closing costs

*The Joseph Corp.’s Homebuyer Counseling Program, a requirement of the Neighborhood Stabilization Program
