Chicago Neighborhood Festival Needs You

Got artistic talent? Want your talents to be featured at a neighborhood art festival? Could you use a $1,000 to spruce up your Chicago home?

The Old Town Merchants & Residents Association is hosting a 2011 Wells Street Art Festival Poster Design Contest.

The winning designer will be awarded $1,000 and the winning design will be the centerpiece of the promotional campaign for the 2011 Wells Street Art Festival.

And, it won’t just be in poster form. Your design will be the basis for newspaper ads, cable television ads, the program book and more.

The runner-up with get a $250 prize as well.

The Wells Street Art Festival is one of the largest and most prestigious fine art fairs in the Midwest. It will celebrate its 37th year this summer on June 11 and June 12 from 10 a.m. to dusk.

More than 70,000 people flock to the annual event, in part because it is located in the historic Old Town neighborhood, which is known for its spectacular architecture.

The deadline for the poster design is Friday, January 21, so start drawing now.

Participants may select one or all four categories for their depiction:

*A design reflecting the character of Old Town

*A design that depicts a street scene in Old Town with crowds of people

*Expressive art that reflects the artists’ own style

*A design centered around the 37th Anniversary of the Festival
