Chicago’s Commercial Real Estate Industry Recognized

January 23, 2011

Outstanding members of the Chicago commercial real estate community were honored at an event held last week at historic Union Station.

The Building Owners and Managers Association of Chicago (BOMA/Chicago) hosted The Building of the Year (TOBY)/Gold Circle Awards gala on Thursday to recognize outstanding Chicago office buildings and the people who run them.

The Gold Circle Awards are broken down into five categories. Thirty-four nominees submitted an extensive application along with two letters of recommendation. Each were then interviewed by a panel of local real estate professionals.

The 2010-2011 BOMA/Chicago’s Gold Circle Award categories and their respective winners:

*Property Management Professional of the Year, which recognizes those responsible for the day-to-day operations of BOMA/Chicago member buildings:

Betty Casties, LEED AP, senior vice president at Jones Lang LaSalle and general manager of the Hyatt Center.

*Building Engineer of the Year, which honors the operational excellence of engineering professionals who oversee Chicago’s commercial buildings:

Dan Wagner, chief engineer at 555 West Monroe.

*Security Professional of the Year, which awards leaders in disaster preparedness:

Donna Kobzaruk, vice president and Midwest regional security manager at JP Morgan Chase.

This was the second annual Gold Circle Awards event. Now, on to the TOBY Awards.
