Free Home Workshops for Adults and Kids This Weekend

February 04, 2011

Now that you’ve spent so much time stuck in your Chicago home, why not spend the weekend learning how to improve it at some free workshops?

All Home Depot stores are offering four free adult workshops this Saturday and Sunday that will give you something good to do next time you’re snowed-in.

*Interior Paint: Update Your Rooms with Color & Style: Learn basic interior and decorative painting techniques. Also find out what supplies, tools and paints work best. Workshop set for 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.

*Tile: The Right Looks and Tools for the Job: Learn how to cut and install tile safely and figure out the right tools and tile solutions for your floors, countertops and backsplashes. Workshop set for 11 a.m. to noon.

*Bath Makeover: Renew & Redo Your Bath for Less: See how to update your bathroom and how to install a new vanity, cabinet or lighting fixture over the sink. Workshop set for 1 to 2 p.m.

*New and Innovative Kitchen Appliances Event: Figure out how to select appliances according to your budget and needs, then see the latest features and designs in home appliances that will save you time and money. Workshop set for 1 to 2 p.m.

Each of these workshops will be held at their respective times each weekend in February, so if you can’t make it this weekend, there are other opportunities.

Your kids could be homeowners one day too, so why not get them comfortable with tools early in life?

Home Depot offers free kids workshops on the first Saturday of each month. This Saturday, February 5, from 9 a.m. to noon, your little workers can build and decorate a Valentine’s Heart shelf; a perfect gift for Valentine’s Day that will look adorable in your home.

The workshop, designed for children ages 5 to 12, will also provide your child with a free Kids Workshop Apron, a commemorative pin and a certificate of achievement.

Have a great, and productive, weekend!
