No Nice Clothes Needed for This Chicago Career Fair

February 20, 2011

There’s a big job fair taking place this Tuesday at Soldier Field that you can attend without leaving your Chicago home.

The first annual Chicago Tribune Soldier Field Virtual Career Fair is set for Tuesday, February 22 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and will take place online.

The career fair will allow local employers and potential employees to interact with each other in a live, 3-D virtual environment.

Soldier FieldThe fair will include a networking lounge for group or one-on-one discussions and an employer booth where job seekers can participate in exhibitor’s group chats and peruse job listings.

Virtual participants can also sit in on a webcast from industry experts.

This is not a new job fair, just a new job-fair format. Previous fairs were held in person at Soldier Field.

“Bringing the career fair online is a great opportunity for both parties involved,” said Joe Shaker Jr., Vice President, Shaker Recruitment Advertising & Communications, the company that developed the site.

“Employers can position their company as innovative and environmentally friendly while candidates and exhibitors can attend the fair without the costs and hassle associated with travel, food or lodging.”
