We just wrote about a dip in the unemployment rate for Illinois, which is a great thing for the Chicago real estate market: Only those with incomes buy homes.

If you are one of those that still applies for unemployment benefits, we have a couple of cool job opportunities to share with you.

If you are seeking employment and are a Cubs fan, you will love this first opportunity:

The Chicago Cubs are hosting a contest to find their next public address announcer at Wrigley Field.

Paul Friedman won't be the Cubs PA announcer this year. Will you?

Their current PA announcer, Paul Friedman, is leaving his job and opening it up for one other lucky person.

This is how the Cubs explain the job: “This position is responsible for announcing all general Chicago Cubs information of interest to patrons of all sporting and events at Wrigley Field, including starting line-ups, in-game announcements, public address announcements, presentations, sponsorship announcements, contests, coming events, running commentary as needed (including limited play-by-play), official decisions of umpires or other officials, and emergency calls if necessary.”

To apply, you must:

*Have a great voice and the ability to speak in front of a ton of people

*Know baseball pretty darn well

*Be available for pretty much all of Cubs baseball season

*Be okay in very hot weather

In addition, prior experience as a public address announcer for college or pro sports in TV or radio is a big plus.

To get an application, visit You must enter a video application of no more than two minutes, and all submissions are due by March 7, so you better hurry up.

The lucky winner will be announced by March 25.

Six Flags Great America in Gurnee is hiring 3,200 seasonal positions for the 2011 season.
