Dog Helps Sniff Out Bed Bugs and Snuff Out Hunger in Chicago

March 14, 2011

I would feel better if the beds in my Chicago home were Cleared by Conrad.

Prince Conrad is not just a 22-pound beagle. He is also a highly trained bed bug detecting professional that can sniff out bed bugs in your home.

And now his efforts are helping to feed Chicago’s hungry (people, not bed bugs).

Conrad is a rescue dog that was saved from an animal shelter in Kansas. He went through training at the Iron-Heart Canine Training Facility in Kansas City and now helps homeowners in the Chicago area and throughout the Midwest take control of their bed bug problems.

And, now, for every person who becomes a friend of Prince Conrad on Facebook and signs up for Cleared by Conrad’s mailing list, one can of food will be donated to the Greater Chicago Food Depository.

If Conrad reaches his goal of 2,000 Facebook friends, Cleared by Conrad will also make a pet food donation equal to a quarter of the total number of friends.

Remember, you have to friend him on Facebook and sign up for his mailing list to help this cause.

Back to Conrad finding those pesky bed bugs: According to the Cleared by Conrad website, bed bug trained canine inspectors can detect eggs, nymphs and bed bug infestations at an accuracy rate of more than 95 percent, while a trained pest management professional’s accuracy rate is generally less than 30 percent for infestations and less than 1 percent for the eggs and nymphs.

Good, homeowner!
