Attending Free Money Smart Events Makes Cents

How smart are you with your money? Think it’s time to get a clue? You’ve picked the perfect week to learn.

Money Smart Week is an outreach program created by the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago.

This year’s 10th annual event is set for April 2 – 9 and will include more than 500 free workshops and activities in Chicago and over 1,000 throughout the state of Illinois.

Some of the topics to be covered this week include:

*Homeownership preservation

*Estate planning

*Avoiding foreclosure

*First-time homebuyer workshops

*Retirement planning


*Basic banking services

*Tax information


*Charitable giving

*Credit and debt management

*Money management for women

*Kids and money

*Teens and money

*Saving for college

*Financial implications of marriage and divorce

*Identity theft


*Small businesses

Some of the programs are offered online, so you don’t even have to leave your home to become money smarter.
