Your Chicago Home . . . as a Billboard?

April 07, 2011

Your neighbors better really adore you to deal with this one.

How would you like someone to cover your mortgage and paint your Chicago home for free? The catch? Well, for starters, you don’t get to pick out the shade.

A start-up advertising firm called Adzookie is offering to pay your mortgage in exchange for turning your home into a gigantic advertisement.

California-based Adzookie, which offers a free mobile ad network, unveiled the program this week and apparently got more than 1,000 applications on the first day alone.

“It really blew my mind,“ said Adzookie CEO Romeo Mendoza. “I knew the economy was tough, but it’s sad to see how many homeowners are really struggling.“

If your home is chosen, Adzookie will paint the entire outside, minus the roof, windows and awnings. That will take about three to five days.

Keep it that way for at least three months and the company will pay for your mortgage each month.

If you don’t get chased out of the neighborhood, the deal can be extended up to a year.

When you cancel, the company will repaint your house back to the original colors.

Now, where are they going to find extremely-faint-and-weathered yellow in a can?

You must own your home to enter, and it can’t be located in a city that prohibits bright paint colors.

Also, you better have really tolerant neighbors.
