May 12, 2011

Illinois ranks in the top 10 for states with the highest foreclosure rates.

But there is help. Metro Chicago real estate owners at risk of losing their homes should be aware that there are upcoming foreclosure prevention events in which you just might find the answers you need.

*Governor Pat Quinn’s Mortgage Relief Project will be making its 20th statewide stop on Saturday, May 14 at Lincoln Park High School in Chicago.

At Saturday’s free outreach event, struggling Illinois homeowners can take advantage of state and federal assistance on-site.

Homeowners will receive advice on mortgage refinancing, foreclosure prevention, legal rights, credit counseling and avoiding scam artists. Homeowners can also get private, one-on-one housing counseling with HUD-certified counselors.

Bring your latest mortgage documents (bills, statements, notices, etc.), your two most recent pay stubs, and your state ID or driver’s license. For an itemized list of all that you need, click here.
