Chicago Real Estate News Flash

May 20, 2011

One former local news anchor has sold her Chicago real estate while a current one is still trying.

Former WLS-Ch. 7 and WBBM-Ch. 2 news anchor Diann Burns and her talent agent husband, Marc Watts, have sold their Lincoln Park mansion for $4.525 million.

The single-family home was reportedly built in 2003 for $2 million. The couple listed the residence last fall for $4.825 million and never dropped their asking price.

That’s a rarity in this economy.

The more than 7,000-square-foot home features six bedrooms, five-and-a-half baths, five fireplaces, a penthouse with a great room, a large basement with a mud room and rec room and a rooftop deck with views of the Chicago skyline. The property also boasts an attached garage and a large backyard with a terrace, a garden and a sports court.

Wonder if the buyers know about the home’s controversy: Burns and Watts sued their builder in 2006 alleging that the company did sub-par work. The case was settled through mediation in 2009.

Former WGN-Ch. 9 and current WBBM-Ch. 2 news anchor, Roseanne Tellez, has put her Chicago home up for sale.

The home, located at 3447 North Hoyne Avenue in Chicago’s Roscoe Village neighborhood, is listed at $1.15 million. Built in 2001, Tellez purchased the residence in 2002 for $810,000.

The 10-room home features four bedrooms plus a den, three-and-a-half baths, three fireplaces, two laundry rooms, a sound system throughout the house, a rooftop deck, a finished basement and a two-car garage.

The 2009 tax bill was $14,771.

Since we’re talking TV, this seems like an appropriate place to tell you that Wheeling resident Haley Reinhart was voted off of American Idol this week.

Reinhart was one of the top 3 finalists on the singing show and got a hometown parade last weekend.

She might not have won American Idol, but something tells me that we will be hearing much more of Haley in the future.
