Tour Elegant North Shore Homes for a Cause

June 27, 2011

Wouldn’t you love to see the interior of some of those beautiful North Shore homes? Now you can, and you’ll be helping others too.

Wednesday, June 29 marks the 25th annual Chicago Lighthouse Associate Board’s House and Garden Walk.

lighthouse logoEach year, North Shore families volunteer their homes to be toured in order to raise money for the Chicago Lighthouse, which has been helping the visually impaired for more than 100 years.

Participants can view the unique interior designs of the homes on the walk, and there will be guides at each house to answer questions about the decor, furniture, antiques, whatever!

This tour has helped The Chicago Lighthouse Associate Board, an organization made up completely of volunteers, raise almost $1.4 million for children, seniors and family support services over the last 25 years.

To mark the milestone, executive board members have published a dessert cookbook entitled, “Indulge.” At the last house on the tour, guests can enjoy some complimentary homemade desserts and have an opportunity to purchase the book, which is also available at the “Tools for Living” retail store at The Chicago Lighthouse, 1850 W. Roosevelt Rd., Chicago.
