Help a Soldier Call Home

July 10, 2011

It seems that everyone has a cell phone these days, so chances are, you also have an old cell phone.

Well, that old cell phone can help soldiers overseas stay in touch with their families at home.

AT&T Pioneers, in support of the charity Cell Phones for Soldiers, has joined forces with Chicago alderman to collect old cell phones.

Cell Phones for Soldiers is a non-profit organization that recycles old cell phones and then uses the funds to buy prepaid phone cards for active duty military members.

From now through Thanksgiving, collection boxes will be set up at the offices of alderman all over the city of Chicago. Drop in your old phones and help give soldiers an affordable way to call home.

There will be drop-off boxes in all AT&T stores through this month as well.

To find a location near you that’s accepting old cell phones, click here.

If you don’t want to trek over to an alderman’s office, you can send in your phone. To find out how, click here.

Before you donate your cell phone, you should probably erase all the data on it. To find out how, click here.
