Free Chicago Gardening Workshops

July 13, 2011

It’s not too late in the season to learn how to beautify your garden or to get your kids interested in the outdoors.

The Lurie Garden is offering two free workshops on Saturday, July 16 at the Chicago Cultural Center.

The first is an adult workshop from 10 a.m. to noon that will not only highlight the garden’s best and brightest of the summer season but will also discuss the importance of year-round seasonal maintenance.

The workshop will also cover plant communities and how to incorporate them into your own garden.

The second workshop is from 2 to 4 p.m. for families with children at least six years old.

Vincent “The Bug Guy” Olivares from the Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum will host “Wild About Insects” and will share interesting facts about bugs while helping the kids make a bug juice they can take home.

Space is limited for both workshops, and pre-registration is required.
