Chicago Company Earns Top Contractor Honor

July 31, 2011

A Chicago real estate contractor has been chosen by one of its clients as last year’s best.

Chicago-based Novak Construction is Target’s 2010 Contractor of the Year.

The company was chosen for the award from about 45 contractors nationwide that provide construction services to the company throughout the year.

Novak Construction was founded in 1980 and began its relationship with Target in 2002 with the renovation of a Chicago store.

The company has since expanded or created multiple Target stores in and around Chicago. In 2010-11, Novak managed multiple remodeling projects for the retailer in the Chicago area and Wisconsin.

“We’ve been striving for this award since our first Target project in 2002,” said John Novak, president and CEO. “We’re gratified to work with one of America’s best-managed companies, sharing construction expertise, vigor and camaraderie across a growing spectrum of projects.

“Working with Target has not only taught us a great deal but has increased our speed of delivery and quality. These learnings have made us a stronger and more focused company.”

Target’s Contractor of the Year award recognizes a company that offers high-quality products at a value while demonstrating reliability, operational excellence and a strong financial performance, says Gregg Steinhafel, Target chairman, president and CEO.

Novak Construction was also ranked No. 368 on the Engineering New-Record (ENR) 2011 Top 400 Contractors list.
