Save-Your-Home Events Could Save Your Home

If you are a metro Chicago real estate owner in danger of losing your home to foreclosure, there is something you can do about it.

Illinois has the ninth highest foreclosure rate in the country, but there is help. Several upcoming foreclosure prevention events could help you save your investment.

Upcoming events:

*Wells Fargo and Wachovia Customer Workshop: If you carry a mortgage from one of these two banks and are having trouble coming up with your mortgage payment, this free workshop can show you options and see if you’re eligible for a loan modification. Walk-ins are welcome, but registration is recommended.

When: Wednesday and Thursday, August 17 & 18; 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.

*Illinois Foreclosure Prevention Workshop: The Neighborhood Community Foundation is hosting a slew of foreclosure prevention workshops outside of Chicago. The workshops will unveil options for struggling homeowners and inform them on how to deal with the foreclosure process.

When: Thursday, August 18; 7 to 9 p.m.

Where: Hampton Inn & Suites, 310 E. Countryside Parkway, Yorkville

When: Wednesday, August 24; 7 to 9 p.m.

Where: Country Inn & Suites, 1265 Lakeview Dr., Romeoville

When: Wednesday, August 31; 7 to 9 p.m.

Where: Holiday Inn Express 3231 Norman Ave Joliet

To register, visit neighborhood-community.org/free-workshops or call (877) 306-5299. Walk-ins are welcome. Everyone will get an educational workbook at no charge; you can call to get the workbook even if you aren’t attending the events. There are also workshops scheduled throughout September.

*Keep Your Home Event: This Neighborhood Housing Services of Chicago event will provide free, on-site assistance and introduce new programs that can help you stay in your home.

*Save Your Home Seminar: The Lakeside Community Development Corporation (CDC), a HUD-approved housing counseling agency, is hosting this seminar, in which you will learn how to apply for a loan modification or refinance and what your right’s are as a renter during a foreclosure. Space is limited, so be sure to RSVP.

When: Wednesday, August 24; 6:30 to 8 p.m.

Attorney General Lisa Madigan‘s office is setting up several foreclosure-prevention workshops scheduled for September 21 and October 1 in Chicago and October 22 in Rockford. Stay tuned to Chicagoland Real Estate Forum for the details as they become final.
