September is Preparedness Month: Is Your Chicago Real Estate Ready?

After you have read the story and taken the steps necessary to be prepared for an emergency in your home, consider sharing your wisdom with others.

The Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is hosting an “Are You Prepared?” video contest.

To enter, all you have to do is submit a 60-second video that shows how you’re prepared for any emergency and reinforces the key message: “Get a Kit, Make a Plan, Be Informed.”

Be creative. Of course, videos with violence, poor language or hateful messages will not even be considered.

The contest began on August 29 and runs through October 11. You must upload your video to and add the link to your specific video on the submission form. Each video must also check the box that enables closed captioning.

The winner will be announced on October 28, and that person’s video will be featured on the CDC homepage and the YouTube channel.
