Bunnies Continue Search for Chicago Real Estate

September 28, 2011

The Playboy Club is still looking for its next Chicago home.

Playboy Enterprises wants to bring its bunnies back home to Chicago, where the Playboy Club first opened in the 1960s.

There were rumors that a mansion at 1150 N. Dearborn Street, the current site of Il Mulino restaurant, would be the perfect place.

But now comes word that the owner of the eatery is no longer interested in renting out space to the gentlemen’s club.

So, the hunt is back on for a Near North Side location to set up shop.

Meanwhile, have you been watching the new “Playboy Club” show on NBC? We have learned that the show’s door bunny, Kate, is an Elk Grove native.

Katherine Cunningham, 25, graduated from Conant High School in northwest suburban Hoffman Estates. She attended Illinois State University, where she originally majored in biology before switching to theatre. Before the Playboy gig, she appeared in ABC’s Detroit 187 and Showtime’s Shameless.

Cunningham was reportedly supposed to just appear in the show’s pilot, but someone must have liked her swagger, because she will now be on multiple episodes.

Maybe it’s her last name: The first Playboy Bunny, who becomes a bunny mother to the girls, is named Carol-Lynne Cunningham on the show.

Playboy Club” is set in Chicago during the early ’60s. The show can be seen Monday nights at 9 p.m. CST on NBC.
