A Chicago Street Fest and Home Design Show in One

September 30, 2011

Looking to change the look of your Chicago real estate? There’s a free street fest for that.

Design Harvest is a new festival in Chicago’s West Town neighborhood that celebrates home decor.

In its second year, this one-of-a-kind event, set for Saturday and Sunday, October 1-2 along Grand Avenue, will feature Chicago’s best local furniture and home accessory makers, vintage and antique collectors, and local retailers of the home design industry that can help you rethink your own home’s look.

This is interesting: Celebrity designer Nate Berkus is working with Design Harvest this year through ‘Paint it Forward.’

For a $10 donation, which will go toward the redesign of a neighboring elementary school’s cafeteria, Nate’s team will look at a photo of a room in your home and recommend two viable paint options. You get two minutes per room with an expert.

There is no guarantee that Nate will be there himself, but you have to think that anyone he works with knows what they are talking about! Paint your home in those colors, and you can tell people that your room’s palette was chosen by Nate Berkus’ team.

The Chicago street fest will also include an art party, where visitors of all ages can create their own works, family hay rides, plenty of food vendors, live music and a giant public square dance on Sunday night.

Sounds like a fun free event that could inspire a whole new look for your home.
