It’s a Great Week in Chicago to Soak Up Some Ideas

Need an idea? Chicago Real Estate Forum has one for you: Get ready for Chicago Ideas Week.

Chicago Ideas Week (CIW) — October 10-16 — “will bring the world’s top speakers together with the city’s best thinkers to create an ecosystem of innovation, exploration and intellectual recreation.”

*Who: The inaugural seven-day public platform will feature such names as President Bill Clinton, Mayor Rahm Emanuel, New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg, Groupon’s Eric Lefkofsky, Financial expert Suze Orman, NFL Hall-of-Famer Ronnie Lott and Chicago real estate architect Jeanne Gang;

*What: Discussing such topics as architecture, the economy, art and media, global community development, education, health and wellness, entrepreneurship and baseball;

*Where: At such venues as the Chicago History Museum, the Oriental Theatre, the Museum of Contemporary Art, the Merchandise Mart, DuSable Museum, Chicago architectural offices and Wrigley Field.

The week will also include:

*A tour of Chicago’s Millennium Park by former Mayor Richard M. Daley.

*A conference of short talks of up to 18 minutes on “ideas worth spreading” called TEDxMidwest.

*90-minute CIW Talks featuring two to six speakers around Chicago.

*CIW Labs that give participants a behind-the-scenes look at the inner workings of Chicago businesses.

“By bringing together the top innovators, thinkers, creators and doers to America’s most dynamic city,” said Mayor Emanuel, “Chicago Ideas Week will spark innovations, new initiatives, and new businesses.”
