Chicago One of Nation’s best Trick-or-Treating Cities

October 29, 2011

It’s Halloween weekend!

Did you send us a picture of your metro Chicago real estate all decked out for the occasion? There’s still time! We want to post your photos on our website.

As for the official day, most communities are calling for trick-or-treating between the hours of 2 and 8 p.m. on October 31, though most towns are limiting those times to a three-hour stretch.

That is one good dog costume!

Want to see your community’s trick-or-treating hours? Check out hauntedillinois.com or visit your city’s website.

Young residents should make out just fine this Halloween: The Zillow Trick-or-Treat Index 2011 chose Chicago as the fifth best city in the nation for trick-or-treating, based on median home value, walkability, population and crime.

Now, what to do with all that candy.

Several dentists around the Chicago area would gladly take it. Here are a few:

*Chicago dentists David Fiore and Matt Zander of Westend Dental, 1170 W. Armitage Ave., Lincoln Park, will pay $1 per pound of candy on Tuesday, Nov. 1 and Wednesday, Nov. 2 from 3 to 6 p.m. The candy will be shipped to U.S. Troops overseas through Operation Gratitude.

*Dentist Mark Ligocki will buy Halloween candy for $1 a pound on Nov. 1 from 6 to 8 p.m. at his office, 1S224 Summit Ave., Suite 202, Oakbrook Terrace. He then plans to ship the goodies to overseas troops.

*Dr. Robert Thies of Amazing Smiles Family Dental Care in Tinley Park is offering $5 gift cards for a bag of Halloween candy, plus an extra prize for the kid who brings in the most. The collection will take place from 8 a.m. to noon at 16906 S. Oak Park Ave. The candy will be donated to Operation Care Packages to be sent to military personnel overseas.

Or, you can always send it to me. Especially the Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups and any flavor M&Ms.

Have a fun, safe, yummy and Happy Halloween!
