Jobs Make the Chicago Real Estate World Go ‘Round

We all know that the recovery of the Chicago real estate industry is dependent on the creation of jobs.

Here are some current opportunities.

On Tuesday, Mayor Rahm Emanuel announced that the Dow Chemical Company will be creating a sales center in downtown Chicago, which will add about 400 new jobs to the area over the next three years.

“Dow’s commitment to Chicago is a reflection of the great work ethic and business environment in the city,” said Mayor Emanuel. “Dow’s new office will be a gathering place, an easily accessible, central location in which business can be conducted and ideas will be exchanged. It will be great for the City of Chicago and great for the company as well.”

The positions will be primarily sales professionals who will service the Midwest.

This is the 13th announcement of new jobs from Mayor Emanuel, who has helped secure 8,000 jobs for Chicago since taking office earlier this year.

If you aren’t in line for one of those positions, there is a Chicago Job Fair on Wednesday, Nov. 9 at Congress Plaza, 520 S. Michigan Ave., Chicago, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Many industries will be represented, including accounting, banking, customer service, real estate/mortgage, restaurant, retail, sales and more.

There is also a job fair on Wednesday, Nov. 9 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. of the main campus of the Illinois Institute of Technology, 3201 South State Street, Chicago.

Hundreds of jobs and careers will be available at the City Career Fair from such companies as Verizon Wireless, Advocate Healthcare, Chicago Zoological Society – Brookfield Zoo, Metro Water Reclamation District, WGN TV, CBS Radio, College of Lake County and more.

Governor Pat Quinn’s office and the Illinois Department of Employment Security are hosting job fairs across the state to help put veterans back to work.

There are three occurring in Bloomington, Belleville and Mt. Vernon on Wednesday, Nov. 9 and two on Thursday, Nov. 10, including one in Effingham and another at the Orland Park Civic Center, 14750 Ravinia Ave., Orland Park, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m..

On Thursday, Nov. 10, the online Milicruit National Career Fair will offer more than 21,000 jobs for military veterans.
