Greeter talking to a tourist in Chicago.The Magnificent Mile InstaGreeter service kicked off last weekend and runs through the end of the year.

This walk-up service includes an hour-long tour led by knowledgeable locals of festive North Michigan Avenue and its surrounding areas, including historic neighborhoods, interesting landmarks, amazing architecture and the best places to shop for the holidays.

You’ll get an insider look at:

*Historic Streeterville and Gold Coast neighborhoods

*The John Hancock Center and the former Playboy Mansion

*Historic hotels and cathedrals

*Holiday lights along festive Michigan Avenue

This is a free service that is available each Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. from now through Dec. 31 at the Water Works Visitor Information Center, 163 E. Pearson St., Chicago. No registration is required; guests will be accommodated on a first-come, first-served basis.

There is a limit of six people per walk, and the last group departs at 3 p.m. each day.

Chicago offers InstaGreeter and Greeter tours of more than 25 diverse neighborhoods throughout the year. The Mag Mile InstaGreeter service is special for the holiday season.
