Foreclosure Prevention Workshops Save Homes

Are you behind on your Chicago real estate mortgage payments? Are you concerned about losing your home?

Want to do something about it?

Illinois has the fourth highest foreclosure rate in the country, and in Cook County alone, one in every 357 homeowners received a foreclosure filing in the third quarter of this year.

Don’t become one of the statistics. There are several foreclosure prevention workshops this Saturday in Chicago — and one in Rockford — that may be able to help you save your home.

The Coalition for Community Banking and Housing Helpers, Inc. is hosting a free foreclosure prevention workshop on Saturday, November 19 on Congress Parkway in the city, where homeowners can meet with trained counselors from HUD-certified counseling agencies to find out their options. There will also be several mortgage lenders on hand.

The Office of Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan is sponsoring a homeowners mortgage resource fair on Saturday in Rockford.

Housing counselors from the Illinois Attorney General’s office will be available to meet with homeowners one-on-one to advise them on preventing foreclosure and avoiding foreclosure rescue scams.

Mortgage lenders will also be there to provide homeowners with information on obtaining loan modifications.
